Best Age to Get Pregnant

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

What is the best age to get pregnant? Many women ask this question. The answer lies within them. They have the choice to decide when they want to take on the responsibility of a child.
If you speak in terms of fertility, then the optimal age is 18 years for fertility in women. From 18 to 25 years of age, women are most fertile to bear a child. After 25, the fertility process starts declining gradually. This process declines at a faster rate after the woman crosses 35 years of age. After 40 years, a woman might face few problems in getting pregnant.

However, it is not that a woman cannot get pregnant before 18 years or after 40 years of age. A girl can get pregnant even at the age of 11 years if her ovulation periods begin at that age. Similarly, a woman can bear a child at 50 years too i.e. till her ovulation process continues. All said and done, a girl can get pregnant from the moment her ovulation period starts and continues till her menopause.

If you ask a doctor what time is best to get pregnant, then he/she would recommend getting pregnant between 25 and 30 years of age. This is the ideal period to become pregnant, especially for women becoming pregnant for the first time. It is quite possible that women above 30 years of age might face some problems with fertility, especially if they are getting pregnant for the first time.

But, there are many other factors other than the body that need to be taken into consideration. A woman should be well settled in life with her life partner. She needs to be financially stable in order to be able to take proper care of the child.

In many cases, women postpone pregnancy because they wish to first achieve success in their respective professional fields before opting for a responsibility as big as taking care of a child. Today, women are ambitious as compared to earlier times and wish to do well in their professional fields and achieve money, success and fame before they settle down into motherhood.

The bodies of men work in a different manner. Males are highly fertile till they reach the age of 40. After that, too, they can generate sperms till the age of 50 or even beyond that. Generally, the amount of sperm generated in men’s bodies decrease after the age of 50. However, there are a number of men who do not lose their fertility till they are even far older than 50.
